Raw Sugar Snickerdoodles

My dad’s birthday was this week, and to honor his memory I made his favorite dessert. This recipe was actually passed down to me from my aunt so I was excited to try it for the first time. I actually ran out of granulated sugar by the time I needed to roll these bad boys which is why these are “raw sugar” snickerdoodles. Jump below for some first-timer tips!

Eat While: hanging out with some memories.

Pairing: Classic Amaretto Sour

Inspiration: the best dad in the world.

First Timer Tips: Bake for less time than you’d think - these harden as they cool. If you’re running low on sugar you can use any kind of sugar to roll these in!

Dedicated Time: 30 min

Components:

1 c shortening, softened

1 1/2 c sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 c flour

1 tsp baking soda

2 tsp cream of tartar

1 1/2 tsp salt

cinnamon & raw sugar for rolling

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Combine shortening, sugar and eggs. Then mix together dry ingredients and stir into wet mixture.

Chill dough. Roll into balls (about the size of a ping pong ball) and then roll into the cinnamon and sugar.

Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 10 min.
